Make full use of a day in Amman to visit top Jordan highlights on this private trip. See the Mosaic Map and another church mosaic at Madaba, and visit Mt. Nebo. Plus, hike along the Al-Mujib Siq river trail (summer only), and soak in the Dead Sea. Your trip includes round-trip private transportation, with entrance fees and local guides at each site at your own expense.

Departure Time: 8:00 AM

After hotel pickup in Amman, travel south by private air-conditioned vehicle to Madaba, famous for its medieval mosaics.

After your journey, arrive and choose to hire a local guide (own expense) to visit St. George’s Church, home to the famous Mosaic Map. Admire the 6th-century floor mosaic depicting the Holy Land of the time, and view the mosaic at the nearby Church of the Martyrs.

Then, travel to Mt. Nebo, where Moses is believed to have seen the Promised Land, and died. Explore independently or hire a guide (additional cost), admiring the church’s floor mosaics and the views over the Jordan Valley.

Continue to Al-Mujib Siq, a scenic river canyon hiking trail (April to October only).

Hire a guide (additional cost) here to hike through the river along the canyon base, and after an optional swim in the waterfall pool at the end, trek back to the entrance, and drive onward to the Dead Sea.

After time at a Dead Sea beach to float in the salt-rich waters, return to Amman, finishing with a hotel drop-off.

Please note: the Al-Mujib Siq Trail is closed in winter and therefore excluded as part of this trip from November through March. During this period, you will travel to a viewpoint to experience panoramic views of the Dead Sea before continuing to your last stop of the Dead Sea beach.

Stop At: Madaba Archaeological Park

You will be picked up from your hotel in Amman around 8am. After a 1-hour drive, you will reach Madaba City and start by visiting St George’s Greek Orthodox Church, Martyrs churches and burnt church. St George’s Church & Mosaic Map Martyrs and Burnt Churches.

Stop At: Mount Nebo

At 10am you will visit Mt. Nebo Church. The view from the summit provides a panorama of the Holy Land and the valley of the River Jordan. The West Bank city of Jericho is usually visible from the summit, as is Jerusalem on a very clear day.

Stop At: Mujib Nature Reserve

Afterwards, travel to the Al-Mujib reserve and enjoy the Siq trail, (open only in the summer, closed November to March), arrive at around 12pm. The trail starts at the Visitor Center near the Mujib Bridge, where you can hire a local guide (own expense). Take the walkway over the dam to follow the course of the river, where you will have the opportunity to swim. (In winter time, you will take a visit to the Dead Sea Panoramic complex for an amazing panoramic view instead).

Stop At: Dead Sea Museum

At 3pm, travel to the Dead Sea Beach, spend an hour relaxing before making your way back to Amman for a hotel drop off around 7pm (We have our preference hotel – resort but you may select whatever hotel you like – Entry fees NOT included ).

  • Al-Mujib Siq Trail (Apr to Oct only)
  • Minimum age is 18 years, however the Al-Mujib Siq Trail can be canceled if the group has younger passengers (Dead Sea viewpoint visited instead)
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Not recommended for travelers with back problems
  • Not recommended for pregnant travelers
  • No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
  • Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
  • This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate
  • Mujib Siq Trail is closed during winter season from Nov to end of March
